The Culham Centre for Fusion Energy (CCFE) use IRIS infrastructure to support both advanced fusion modelling and the management of scientific data. Through the JINTRAC project, researchers use IRIS computing resources to run and develop sophisticated simulations of plasma behaviour within fusion devices, helping scientists understand and optimise the performance of future fusion power plants. Alongside this, the FAIR Data activity uses IRIS storage and data-management capabilities to improve the discoverability, accessibility and long-term value of fusion research data in line with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable). Together, these activities demonstrate how IRIS supports both the computational and data-intensive aspects of fusion research, helping researchers accelerate scientific discovery while ensuring that valuable datasets can be shared and reused across the wider fusion community.
