CCP-EM and CCP-VolumeEM are collaborative projects that develop software, workflows and computational methods for the analysis of three-dimensional electron microscopy data. These communities support researchers using cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), volume electron microscopy and related imaging techniques to investigate the structure and organisation of biological systems across a wide range of scales. The rapid growth in resolution and data volume from modern imaging instruments has created a need for substantial computing resources and sophisticated data-processing pipelines. Through IRIS, CCP-EM and CCP-VolumeEM use advanced computing infrastructure to support software development, algorithm testing, workflow validation and the processing of large imaging datasets. IRIS resources help researchers transform raw experimental data into detailed biological models while enabling the development of the next generation of computational tools for structural and cellular biology.
