The Jodrell Bank Centre for Astrophysics Centre for Excellence in Radio Astronomy (JBCA-CERA) uses IRIS infrastructure to support a broad range of radio astronomy activities, including the operation and scientific exploitation of the e-MERLIN and UK Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) National Facility, as well as the UK’s Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) Regional Centre. These facilities generate and process large volumes of observational data that require advanced computing, storage and data-management capabilities. Through IRIS, JBCA-CERA accesses infrastructure that supports data processing, calibration, archiving and scientific analysis, enabling researchers to extract maximum value from radio astronomy observations. The collaboration also contributes expertise in distributed data processing, scientific software and large-scale research infrastructure, helping to strengthen the wider IRIS community while supporting world-leading research into the formation and evolution of galaxies, stars and planetary systems.
