The LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ) experiment is an international scientific collaboration searching for evidence of dark matter, one of the greatest unanswered questions in modern physics. Located deep underground at the Sanford Underground Research Facility in the United States, LZ uses an ultra-sensitive liquid xenon detector to search for rare interactions that could reveal the nature of dark matter particles. The experiment generates significant volumes of scientific data that must be processed, distributed and analysed by researchers across the collaboration. Through IRIS, the UK LZ community benefits from access to advanced computing, storage and data-management infrastructure that supports large-scale data analysis, simulation and international collaboration. These capabilities enable researchers to extract scientific insight from complex datasets and contribute to the global effort to understand the fundamental composition of the Universe.
