MicroBooNE and the Short-Baseline Near Detector (SBND) are neutrino experiments located at Fermilab in the United States and form key components of the international Short-Baseline Neutrino programme. These experiments use liquid argon time projection chamber technology to study neutrino interactions in unprecedented detail, helping researchers investigate the nature of neutrinos, improve understanding of particle interactions and search for signs of new physics beyond the Standard Model. The experiments generate large volumes of complex detector data that require significant computing resources for reconstruction, simulation and analysis. Through IRIS, UK researchers access computing and data infrastructure that supports the development of analysis software, detector simulations and large-scale data-processing workflows. These capabilities enable UK scientists to participate fully in the international collaboration while helping prepare technologies and methodologies that will also be important for future neutrino facilities such as DUNE.
