The UK SKA Regional Centre (UKSRC) is the UK’s contribution to the global network of SKA Regional Centres that will support science from the world’s largest radio astronomy facility, the Square Kilometre Array (SKA). The UKSRC provides the computing, data and user-support capabilities needed to enable researchers to access, process and analyse the enormous datasets that will be generated by the SKA telescopes. Through its participation in IRIS, the UKSRC benefits from expertise in large-scale data management, distributed computing, cloud technologies and research infrastructure operations. The challenges of delivering data-intensive astronomy at SKA scale align closely with the experience and capabilities found across the IRIS community, creating opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange and the development of common approaches to managing scientific data at extreme scale.
