XLZD (Extreme Liquid Xenon Dark Matter) is a programme developing the next generation of liquid xenon dark matter experiments, building on the scientific success of projects such as LUX-ZEPLIN (LZ). The collaboration is investigating the technologies, detector designs and computing approaches that will be required to deliver future dark matter searches with sensitivities beyond those achievable today. Through IRIS, UK researchers use advanced computing and data infrastructure to support large-scale detector simulations, software development, data-analysis workflows and the evaluation of future experimental designs. These activities help researchers understand the performance of proposed detectors, develop new analysis techniques and prepare the scientific foundations for future experiments that aim to reveal the nature of dark matter and deepen our understanding of the fundamental composition of the Universe.
